5 months!

Tomorrow our sweet baby turns 5 months old! He weighs 19 lbs and 5 ounces. I don't know his length. The only reason I know his weight is because we had a visit with a new doc today! More about that later.

Luke hasn't changed a whole whole lot this month. He's definitely become much more vocal. He is kicking ALL the time. When he's on his stomach we call him the little swimmer. His arms and legs are just going crazy! He's working on the rolling over thing, too. Not quite there yet, but it will happen soon! He's still not a fan of tummy time, but he's trying to have a better attitude about it..hehe ;)

We started him on rice cereal a week into his 4th month. We started feeding him cereal once a day with a spoon. His first few days were pretty funny. He was extremely confused. One day he pretty much had a melt down, but never again. He eats it like a champ now, and we're contemplating adding another rice cereal feeding. He is pretty much totally formula-fed now and I'm super pumped about the organic formula I found! We had been using Earth's Best, but I found out it's not exactly as organic as they claim. We tried this other that I had on hand, given to me by my mom. I hadn't learned much about it so one night I read a TON of information about it and love the product! SO excited. Oh the things that excite me these days! haha.

So I got the name of another pediatrician from a few people at work. On totally separate occasions, several people happened to mention the same doc. So, I went to him. I scheduled an appointment for today, and to also get another look at his flat head! Immediately the doctor told us it didn't look alarming, and that between 6-9 months it would probably pop out more as he is more active. He said just to put my mind at ease, we could get a little head x-ray to make sure the sutures in his head weren't fusing too early.

So, we be-bop on over next door for an x-ray. The doctor called back this afternoon and said the Radiologist wasn't exactly able to say 100% that nothing was happening. He said it could just be a blurry picture, but the only way to know 100% is to get a CT scan. This would require sedation, since he can't sit still on his own. I hung up the phone and tried not to freak out. I really feel like he's ok. His head is flat where he lays on it at night (and all the time before we realized it was happening). I don't know. Maybe I'm in denial, but I AM just a tad nervous. He said we could wait a month or two to see what happens with his head shape, that it's nothing we need to rush into. I just absolutely hate the idea of him having to go through testing and what the outcome might mean. Please keep his head in your prayers. Please pray that it would shapen out and would cause no alarm. I'm only writing this on here for the few people that read this. I would totally appreciate encouragement and prayers with this.

Honestly, deep down I feel like he's ok. I feel like the CT scan would show nothing, so I just really don't want him to even have to go through it. I just feel like it's a normal flatness that I've read multiple things about online that happens because of the back-sleeping campaign against SIDS. Again, maybe I'm just wishfully thinking.

On a brighter note, I love the doctor! He's fabulous. He called me himself this afternoon and had a long conversation with me. He didn't rush me while we were in his office and sat down and played with Luke for awhile during the visit. Trust me, it was a TOTALLY different experience from the first doctor. Anywho- that's that!!

Thank you for your prayers!
