the BEST weekend!

This past weekend my brother and sis-in-law, and nephew Noah came into town. It was Bobby's birthday, their 5 year anniversary, Memorial Day, and my baby shower. Whew! It was crazy busy. Brooke and Jenn were also able to come which was extra special. (Karen, we missed you, and can't wait for tomorrow when Calvin makes his debut!) The baby shower was absolutely incredible. I seriously have never been to a baby shower that had that many presents everywhere. I was blown away by the blessing of my friends and family and still am! Nate and I had such a blast putting everything away, looking at all the new, fun stuff for our little man, and just enjoying each other as we prepare!

32 weeks tomorrow, 8 months!! I will have to say last night I got a little emotional thinking about our lives changing. As happy and excited as I am, I'm a little nervous as well. I know things are going to change, literally overnight. Nate and I have been together for over 4 years now, and we know life with the 2 of us and our adorable Candy-cat. I've always gotten a little emotional over life changes. It's just me. :) I think the reality of everything setting in is happening- starting with all the baby stuff we have sitting around the house now, and the showers beginning. It's so crazy! Today, I feel a little more relaxed about it all. I have a work shower this Friday night, so that will be awesome!

Had a great doc appointment, today. I'm looking forward to when the next ultrasound will be happening. I think my doc said around 36 weeks, so we'll see!

9 weeks to go!!

I'll start week 32 tomorrow! Can't wait!

My newest ideas right now, since I've been toiling with the idea of wanting to be at home AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE with my little man, are trying to get my Mary Kay business off the ground. Little do most of you know, I've been a consultant since I was 18. That's 10 years!! I did a little with it in college at HPU and TxState, but not much came of it. It's been off and on throughout the years, but I have a different motivation, now. I'm praying the Lord will provide me the pathway to make this happen. And if not this, then He will show me the correct path!

Also, I teach piano lessons and bake cakes!!!! So, those are other avenues I can take.

I'm praying for the Lord to bless my efforts and to help me find my niche. I love nursing, but I also want to be at home! I can still pick up shifts and even change my work status to SSP (no set schedule; pick up shifts when I want to work).

I almost forgot to do my 5 week photo op!! As you can see in a previous post, I'm posting pictures in 5 week increments. Below is my 30.3 photo! Yowzers. He really has started popping out. Granted, here I'm in a fitted tank top in jeans vs. sweats and a t-shirt. It's weird to see the difference from before pictures. What a miracle pregnancy is!! Such a blessing. :)

As of this past Monday's appointment:

Total gain: 19 lbs

Luke's heartrate: 150 on the dot

Cravings: If i had to pick, I would choose carbs/cheesy things over anything else

Looking forward to some showers that are just around the corner!

29 weeks and go!!

Yeppers, I'm starting my 30th week this week. Yippee, skippy!! So glad to see that 3 in front of the number, because that means we're SOOOO almost there. I am so so so ready to meet my little man. It has nothing to do with pregnancy. I'm loving this journey, and I absolutely love being pregnant. I just want to hold this little guy that causes such a ruckus inside me! Oh man, he's so precious already. What a blessing. We have prayed so hard for this baby and his life. Our baby journey started around Thanksgiving of 2009, so it's hugely exciting!!

In other news, I passed the 3 hour glucose test! I'm so happy about this. I knew the Lord would sustain me and lift me up during that time if I did in fact have GD, but I can't say I was looking forward to the possibility of having to adjust to a diabetic lifestyle. I'm thankful that He is gracious and I won't have to fret over that need for an oreo blizzard that pregnant women in their 3rd trimester get. Man, how spoiled am I?? That test was awful, though. The drink was double the amount of glucose they put in the doctor's office drink. Grossness. Can't say I was a fan of the 4 separate blood draws either, but hey, it's all good. Thankfully I'm not squeamish about that stuff- guess I wouldn't be a nurse if I was! Hey!! Here's a shout out for NURSE'S WEEK this week!! whoop!

28 weeks and 3 hours!

Fun Fun!! Starting my 29th week. I have several different apps on my phone that are pregnancy related. I look forward to rolling a new week, just to read the several articles about what Mr. Luke is doing these days. I usually am feeling pretty on target with what they say he should be acting like. This week it talked about his activity level being extremely high, and man they weren't kidding! This child is a crazy man. Yesterday at work, I was talking to a few of my co-workers at the nurses station. I was sitting and noticed the paper I had in my hand (and slightly resting on my tummy) jumped. So I told my friend, who's been dying to feel him move, to feel! He kicked right at that moment and she jerked her hand back! haha.. it was hilarious. He definitely surprised her with his force. She has 2 children and said he was a HARD kicker! Yes ma'am.. he definitely is. We're so excited over him. I think he's pretty happy in there. Not sure what all a baby can be getting excited about in a tiny womb, but hey, he's happy!!

So, I get to take the 3-hour glucose test! Yay me!! Not looking too forward to it, but it is what it is. My first test came back high, so here we go! My sister in law's came back high too, but her 3 hour was fine. We'll see what happens! I'll do that sometime next week, I suppose.

Glucose test

Today I did the glucose challenge test at the doc's office. The drink was totally fine. Kool-aid to me is way sweeter, so I was pleasantly surprised. Now I just wait for the results! Hoping it all comes back clear!
